H&P Croatia continues to position itself as leading consultancy in promoting effective communications in environmental and waste management decision-making. Andreja initiated cooperation with the National Association of Counties in order to clarify the role of public relations in waste management and tackle the challenges of public information and participation. As a result, educational workshop was organized in Varaždin for the heads of county departments and regional administration public relations specialists.
Andreja conceptualized and gave the presentation which tackled the subjects like trends, the most common misconceptions and facts relating to the communication of waste management, the application of the Aarhus Convention and the strategic approach to communication. Participants addressed number of challenges and different experiences, while the overall impression was that there is a need for acquiring competences needed for shaping a transparent framework for public information and participation.
As the deadline for the establishment of the integrated waste management system in Croatia at the end of 2018 approaches, public relations specialists in local governments, waste management centres and waste companies will increasingly face new challenges and pressures. The workshop enabled H&P to acquire an even deeper understanding of the needs and issues, and to establish new valuable contacts.
